How to Detoxify the Body
It's common after summer vacations, winter holidays, some celebrations... moments when we let ourselves be carried away by excesses in food, a lot of sun exposure or even the stress of getting everything done, to have the feeling of being continuously exhausted, heavy or with general discomfort. At these times many look for quick solutions, among the most popular we see "detox" diets. You've probably heard of these at some point, they often promise to clean the body of toxins and thus improve the feeling of well-being. Upon analyzing these diets we may wonder, is it really necessary to "detoxify" the body? How is it done? Are detox diets useful?
Let's start with the first question, is it necessary to detoxify the body? Yes. But the truth is that our body has its own mechanisms to do it, which work continuously and very well too.
How does the body detoxify itself?
Our body has an incredibly efficient system for eliminating toxins, leading this work are 2 main organs: the liver and the kidneys. How do they work?
• The liver works as a filter that transforms toxic substances into less harmful compounds, which are then eliminated from the body using bile or blood.
• The kidneys filter the blood and then eliminate waste through urine.
These and other organs work 24 hours a day, processing everything we eat, drink and breathe. In a certain way, our body is always detoxifying itself.
What can we do to help the body detoxify? It's important to understand that no food can "absorb", as if it were a sponge, the toxins from our body. Remember that the one who has that job, and is a great professional, is our own body. What we can do is help it, avoiding adding more work than necessary and supporting our organs in their natural functions. Let's see how we can do it with a negative example and a positive one.
What are detox diets?
These diets have become very popular in recent years, although the science behind them is quite limited. Detox diets often promote the exclusive consumption of juices/smoothies or specific foods for a short period of time between 1 and 3 days, to eliminate toxins.
Remember what we mentioned before, since there are no foods that can absorb toxins, there is also no diet that can absorb them. Detox diets usually offer a digestive rest to our body, as they consist of eliminating processed foods, refined sugars and saturated fats that overload the digestive system if consumed in excess.
However, it's important to note that the concept of detox diets has 2 important problems.
1. They are usually very restrictive in the types of foods we can consume, this often leads to a lack of nutrients and a significant deficiency in proteins and calories, resulting in many people feeling fatigue and weakness during them.
2. The second problem is that they convey the idea that in a few days, miraculously, we can compensate for the excesses accumulated over time.
This is an idea similar to "miracle diets". The key to achieving good health and the feeling of well-being does not consist of doing a "radical cleaning" every certain time or losing 10 kg in 2 weeks. It consists of maintaining a balanced diet and healthy habits consistently as we talked about in this article.
So what can we do to support the body's natural detoxification?
Of course, the best is to lead a healthy and balanced life so that our body, although detoxifying 24 hours a day, doesn't have to do it at 100% capacity.
But we all like some "excesses" from time to time, like getting together sometimes with friends for a hearty meal, dining in multiple restaurants on vacation or spending a whole day in the sun on the beach. In these cases we can give our body a little push to make its work easier.
How do we do it? We use the idea of detox diets as a base and improve it. We achieve it by covering 3 areas:
1. Reducing overloads, we do this by avoiding processed foods, refined sugars and saturated fats. Our body won't accumulate much additional work and can catch up.
2. Enhancing the body's detoxifying capacities. We achieve this with products that help the best functioning of our digestive system, liver, kidneys, circulation...
Along with the 5 meals of the day, some of our distributors love to prepare a "detox drink" that they take throughout their day. Here you can see a video of how it's prepared.
At Exialoe we find products that can help our body to bring out all its potential also for detoxifying us:

• Luna: In its carefully balanced formula we find powerful allies for the purification of your body, among them Orthosiphon is worth mentioning, a plant known for its diuretic properties helps eliminate excess liquids, favoring detoxification through urine.

From its formula we can mention Grapefruit Seeds which have an antibacterial and antioxidant effect, helping to combat harmful bacteria in the intestine protecting the rest of the body from many infections that can release toxins in the body.
Another ingredient is Milk Thistle, a powerful liver protector, promoting the elimination of toxins and improving fat metabolism in the liver, favoring that it can function at its maximum capacity.
• Immuno Aloe-5 In this product we find a general strengthener of our immune system. From its many ingredients we can mention the Dry Extract of Propolis, it has been traditionally used to treat respiratory tract infections for its antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties.
3. Ensuring that our nutrition is complete is key for a diet to be beneficial for our body. When we give the body all the nutrients and minerals it needs we make it "worry-free" about compensating for deficiencies and facilitate its work in detoxifying, repairing and strengthening itself.
We find a good example in how a gardener cares for his garden. His job is to help the plants grow and flourish by providing them with the best conditions, the necessary water, the right soil, enough light... But then it's the plants that take care of growing. So, if we want to recover our well-being after excesses or simply maintain it, what we have to do is facilitate the work of our organs through good eating and lifestyle habits to help their good functioning and achieve a better quality of life.
